For sale in this auction is an All American 16 CGC 8.0 VF with Off-white to White pages. All American 16 features the origin and first appearance of Green Lantern. It is currently the 5th most valuable comic book ever published with a top guide value of $280,000 and possibly holds the record for the highest price ever paid for a single comic book, with a 9.4 rumored to have exchanged hands recently for over $1,000,000! It also has the distinction of being the rarest of any of the Golden age mega-keys with only 31 copies graded to date by CGC. (It is also the only one of the top 5 keys to be listed in the Overstreet as RARE) This particular copy has Extensive professional restoration. The CGC label reads "color touch, pieces replaced, spine & pages reinforced, cleaned." At the moment, only 1 unrestored and 3 restored copies have ever graded higher than this one!!! This issue looks particularly sharp for a VF and probably received the grade it did due to a small tear on one of the edges. If that tiny tear were to be sealed, its possible this book could grade even higher! To date, only one unrestored copy of this issue has ever graded higher than a 6.0 from CGC (and the lone 6.0 sold last year for $85,000) making this copy desirable even to collectors who may typically shy away from restored books since in this case high grade unrestored copies pretty much don't exist! With this book always being in short supply and a Green Lantern movie due out in 2011, demand for the few existing copies is sure to heat up over the next 12 to 18 months!!! This comic is being listed with a 99 cent starting bid and no reserve!
