Charles Schulz Peanuts Sunday Comic Strip Photostat Production Art. Personalized Peanuts Sunday comic strips are as good as money in the bank. Check out the prices of similar items that sold at other auction sites. This is a rare production photostat for a Peanuts Sunday dated 1/13. Copyrighted in 1979 but not published until January 13th 1980. In the old pre-digital days, these were prepared for each newspaper that was syndicating the strip, and the papers would shoot from these rather than the original. It was signed and personalized by Schulz in the first panel. It has an image area of 24"X 17”. In this Sunday strip, Lucy outlines a contract with Charlie Brown and illustrates Lucy’s litigating skills, and expresses an essential “Peanuts” theme: the perpetual tension between Lucy and Charlie Brown; and Charlie Brown's passionate capacity for hope. Appropriately, Charles Schulz picked this Sunday strip to personalize and give to an attorney acquaintance (Arnie). It has been kept in the attorney’s personal collection since then and is offered for auction for the first time only now. An exceptional piece in excellent condition. Charles Schulz once wrote, "The last panel in a Sunday comic strip is especially important. When the reader first glances at the Sunday pages of his or her comics, it is very easy for her or his eye to drop to the lower right-hand corner and have the whole page spoiled for him. Thus, it is sometimes necessary to try not to attract attention to that panel, to make certain that the beginning panels are interesting enough to keep the reader from skipping to the end." This piece was presented professionally framed (aluminum) with UV glass and shows evidence of slight waviness most of which can easily be matted out.
