The Amazing Spider-Man #14 (July 1964) CGC 5.0 VG/FN Picture(s) and Description:

The Amazing Spider-Man #14 (July 1964) CGC 5.0 VG/FN 1st Green Goblin! The Amazing Spider-Man #14 (July 1964) CGC 5.0 Very Good/Fine with cream to off-white pages. 1st appearance of The Green Goblin and first meeting between Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk. Very attractive book. I have carefully carefully removed this comic book from the CGC container to read it very carefully (as I’m sure would too); and have kept the original CGC container which goes to the winning bidder with the book inside it. If you want the book re-slabbed, please send it toCGC with the original container and they will re-slab for their discounted re-slabbing fee. Guaranteed same grade. As you can see, the colors are much better inside the slab. The only reason why CGC designated this as a “Qualified” grade is that the 3rd and 4th wrap of the book are “married”. I thought that this meant that the pages were stuck together such that I could not read the book, but that was not the case. This just means that the publisher used glue to affix the pages at the binding for these two centerfold pages, rather than stapling them. Sometimes CGC will assign a “Qualified” grade to a book that has been signed. I once had a book signed by a Spider-Man artist, and CGC gave it a “Qualified” grade. A qualified grade does NOT mean that a book has been restored according to CGC. “The Grotesque Adventure of the Green Goblin” by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. At the time, this was the most demanded Spider-Man story to date because it featured Spidey’s (to this day) #1 villain Gobby, and the Hulk. (The Hulk did not have his own series yet when this story ran, creating a huge demand by Hulk fans as well.) Gobby makes his mark as Spidey’s archnemesis by trying to kill Spidey right off the bat to become the crime lord of New York’s underworld. To this day, the Green Goblin is hugely popular, having recently been voted by Wizard magazine as the best villain of 2009, and of course the Green Goblin was starred in some form or another in Spider-Man movies 1, 2, and 3. Overall a very attractive book at a reasonable price. I’m starting the auction low at 12¢, its original newsstand price. (Comic stores did not exist in 1964.) Pictures provided to serious bidders upon request. Non-paying winning bidders will receive negative feedback. Do not bid if you cannot pay. Non-registered E-bay users do not bid on items. I reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with excessive negative feedback, suspended non-registered users, less than 10 unique positive feedback, (negative) private feedback, or positive feedback less than 75%.
